Red Bear

Before last night I didn't know much about Red Bear. I heard he played Q8 a year ago and I saw his album at an indie book store in Salt Lake City. That man wowed me last night. He played a romantic set last night at a house on Stanton. He gave his audience the warmest of introductions and filled every gap of his set with colorful jokes and back stories to his songs. Every appendage of his body was an instrument to be maneuvered, adding layers to his music like new nails benefit a rusting house. his voice reminded me of Jeff Ott from Fifteen, a better Jeff Ott. His spirit reminded me of Freddy Mercury; yes, I made a Queen comparison. His mosaic of feelings and life experiences tantamount to a boost of energies and a rekindling of hearts. Lalo got his newest album with the bartering of two 40 ounces. His CD is a triumph of DIY, the biggest gem and yet you can hold it in your hand. Patrick is his name and he made our night.
